Experimented with the use of manipulating normal maps which changes how object catches light. This is the fruit's normal map and it was given a splattered overlay for a painterly look.
The aura effect is created by raytracing the silhouette of the cube from the origin point of the camera. This is to create a 2D effect typically seen in anime and cartoons.
This highly compressed look was created by rendering three layers: the sky, the city, and the character. The sky was rendered normally with a 24mm lens; the city was rendered in orthographic view; the character was rendered with no textures as a white matte. This shot was influenced by a scene from Mob Psycho III's intro.
